Interaction design merges the theory and technique of traditional design with a host of other disciplines to create a combination of procedures and methods singular to the field. It strives to design interactive products and services that clearly support people in their everyday lives. It designs interactions that make work effective, safer and more proficient; is supports evolved forms of communication, expression and creativity; it augments learning environments and provides exciting new forms of entertainment.
There is no fully developed language to cater for the design of interactive technology. As designers, we are forced to draw on the language of previous creative modes such as words, poetry, painting, drawing, icons, typography, sculpture, sound, film and animation. There is a call from within the international Interaction Design community to develop an independent language of interaction, a language more true to the medium. Tricycle Interactive looks forward to being a part of this journey in some small way.
