Role of Interaction Design in the Irish Economy

In June 2006, the Irish Government announced a new Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation, involving an investment of €8.2 billion over the next seven years. 2006 also witnessed the opening of the Centre for Design Innovation. Funded by Enterprise Ireland, an agency of Ireland’s Department for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, its stated aims are to research and promote design thinking as a means of driving successful innovation. Its goal is to make businesses more competitive and public services more effective.

The Interaction Design industry, whilst in its infancy in Ireland, is recognised and valued by other leading industrialised regions such as the United States, Scandinavia, anf Japan. Tricycle Interactive is confident that Ireland, as a self-aware knowledge economy with a keen understanding of the need for innovation, will come to fully understand the potential value of Interaction Design.
